Shelley's Voice

Welcome to my blog page. I am going to be giving you my perspective on issues relating to women, family, business and current issues. Stayed tuned, because the best is yet to come!
From My Perspective...
These days are tough for many. There is so much to be concerned about that is going on in the world. President Obama and his agenda, coupled with serious opposition to it; crime; Haiti; family/children issues; terrorism; foreclosure, addiction; apathy and the list could go on.
I respectfully ask for your permission to speak on all of the above issues and more! Even if I don't get your permission, I am speaking on them anyway. lol Stay tuned...Michelle

What's up, my friends????
Long time, no talk to... lol A lot has been happening on my end. Mainly, travel has consumed much of my time. I recently had to travel north for a funeral, so the family and friends convinced me to stay here for a minute. All good....and especially being closer to family and friends. I wrote this yesterday and would like to share it with you. Peace and Blessings!
If I am a sinner that is saved by "Grace", what does that really mean??? Is there a rate scale associated with "Sin"? Yes, we all know about the 10 commandments. My questions is avoidance of these specific sins quarantee a place in the ultimate "holy land"?
My big question is why are some so seemingly "Blessed", while others that truly deserve a blessing, never get it.
I have always said that the cursed, forgotten or lost could end up as the "religious figure" that comes back in spite of man's misgivings. In other words, the Creator could send anyone in any form or fashion. Watch out for the coniving devil. For, he will have you thinking that your house, job, jewels and car...are what you should cherish. But, God may have other plans for you. Watch and see. ttyl

A lot has happened in the last 6 months. I am working on a project in Florida that has been quite interesting. Not necessarily the marketing project, but the move to southern Florida itself. I lived in Florida previously, so that was no problem. But now, I am in south Florida with a new situation and agenda. As they say....wow! Interesting state indeed. However, a little disheartening to see the amount of foreclosures that have impounded this state. They have houses that would normally sell for $250,000, that are selling for $80,000. Cash is king, queen and everything else here in the sunshine state.
Of course, we just had an election that ended tonight. Florida was one of the states that was looked upon by the country in terms of party affiliation and independent candidates. I must say....viewing the advertisements on tv, print and radio....IT GOT DIRTY, BABY! lol.... I know it was the same in other states. For example, Baltimore, my hometown; was deep in a battle between present Governor O'Malley and Robert Erhlich, a long time republican candidate that had challenged his opponent before and lost. Democrat O'Malley was the victor and I am sure the former President Clinton's visit of support didn't hurt. I heard through the grapevine that it got dirty there too!
Anyway, please stay strong, honest, kind and committed to your cause. Life does get better for those that believe. Success may be right around the corner and you choose to give in to the spirits of evil that are all around us. Don't do it! Keep on walking, amidst the rain, storms, tornadoes, snow, etc., and the sun will come out. Get to the corner and turn....your destiny is there.
03-02-10 There is a significant difference in men and women. It goes beyond the obvious physical, physiologically, and emotional aspects. There are things that make the sexes completing different. You may say, who am I to speak on this subject??? I feel that I am a good source for giving my opinion on this topic. I have been married before and had children out of the union. I have also had a few long-term friendships with really good men. These friendships have lasted throughout my forty plus years. I have had many male friends and there has been no sex involved in those cases.
This fact has really has been a blessing in disguise for me; for it has enabled me to go into the male psyche at a friendship level, without the usual sexual games and tactics. Of course, they all came with a price, so to speak…but mostly just sought the friendship and the need to express themselves in some form or fashion. I am going to boldly share my experiences with you…but of course without the details of the person. Come on now…. I am not a snitch!!!! I grew up in Baltimore, Maryland….and there was a saying in the hood…”Snitches get stitches!”. Unfortunately, it was real and frankly, I am not taking any chances! So therefore, the real names in this blog will be changed to protect the innocent! Yes, that includes me…

I just got off the phone from a good friend in Baltimore. The right "Reverend Willie Ray" is currently working on another "Loves Hands Across Baltimore", with twenty years of perserverance being the theme. I had the unique opportunity to work on his campaign about 20 years ago. I worked for an advertising agency at that time who had this project as a client. I distinctly remember working on this account and thinking to myself..."How are we going to create a campaign that produces 1000 or more people to go to a particular location which interlocks hands throughout races, communities, streets, etc.? This program is designed to counter the violence in Baltimore that is prevalent among gangs and youth. It is an ambitous program geared to taking "God" to the streets and outside of the physical church. Can something like that work in a city that is plagued with violence, crooked politics, sinfally agreesive business people and a flegging educational system; but a growing penal system? Stay tuned...

Well, this weekend was challenging! lol For a woman...what weekend is not? I had the unique opportunity to transport some young college students to an event for spring break.
Okay, I know what you are thinking.... Freaknik...Miami....Aruba? haha...Naw, man...these young people were on a mission. But, it was not one that focused on partying and drinking. It was a mission of spreading the word of God. Yes, no wild parties or freaking! lol These young people were on a mission bigger than freaking, getting high, drunk or laid... Imagine 20 something year olds wanting to do something other than party on springbreak? Good news is what I will spread....from here to eternity. Oh, and don't forget WITT... We're In This Together!
Oh, and most importantly..believe in yourself and the power of GOD! It surpasses all understanding. Yes, I learned a little something myself from their experience during this spring break week and in life. God willing, I will share with you again soon. Peace.

I recently posted a picture that I had in my archives of me and the former Mayor of DC.... Marion Barry. Okay, I know what you are thinking....but get your mind out of the gutter! lol I was at an event in DC for Obama. was there as press and saw him in the hallway and took this picture. I know you may have your opinions about the former Mayor of DC. but he did help some folks that really needed it in lower DC. I am not talking about Pennsylvania Avenue or upper Southeast, where the Congress is housed.
Oh, btw Happy St. Patricks, Day. I need the luck of the Irish! I have had several pure Irish friends and loved them all.

Hello... It is a blessing to be able to give you some of my viewpoints for the day. Well, a lot has happened over the last few days. The infamous healthcare bill passed. It is all very interesting to me. I do look at other countries in which healthcare is free and it is not a monopoly governed by greed. However, I do have a problem with government intervention on these things. I don't know about this one, I am so confused!!! lol But, at least I have until 2014 to figure it all out.

Well, I guess we are now living in an equal opportunity "suicide bombing" world. I often wonder what would make anyone die and kill others for their cause? From what I understand, there is a certain martyrism (is that a word?) that is associated with this action.
And, let's face it, women are good "prospects" so to speak because it has predominately been a male dominated act. They are probably less scrutinized and/or suspected. However, I do feel sorry for all of those innocent people in Moscow...just on the train going to work or run errands. What is the message that was really meant to be sent by these women?
